Eve of Corpus Christi Mass

Last night we celebrated the Eve of the Feast of Corpus Christi. It was a good evening and a joy to welcome the new(ish) Bishop of Lichfield, Bishop Michael Ipgrave as our preacher.

The weather was kind to us, which enabled the outdoor procession of the Blessed Sacrament to take place and Bishop Michael preached a well received sermon.

In it he talked about where the Body of Christ was to be found.

Firstly he talked about the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and Mary Magdalene looking for the Body of Christ.

Secondly he reminded us that the Body of Christ is found in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar and thirdly he remained us that we are truly what we eat, the Body of Christ, being found in the people of God, and especially in the the poor and marginalised.

After Mass and the Procession, Bishop Michael gave Benediction and then refreshments were served in the Church Hall, including a barrel of Oh Miss Jones, brewed in the parish at the local microbrewery.

A splendid evening.
